OUR STORY

Pastor Joe Langley and his wife Cherie became part of the Colonial Baptist Church family on September 21, 2025. That very day, he followed God’s call to serve the wonderful people of Wintersville, Ohio. Pastor Joe teaches and believes the biblical truth that each believer in a local body of Christ—the New Testament church—exists to be a vessel through which God reveals His timeless truth and boundless love to our community and the world. He is filled with excitement for all that God has already accomplished and for all that He will continue to do through Colonial Baptist Church.

OUR CHURCH

Colonial Baptist Church is an Independent Baptist Church with a simple but powerful mission: to love Jesus and to love people. Jesus summed up all that God asks of us in two clear commands—to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. When we live out these two commandments, we fulfill everything God desires of His children, because every biblical principle and precept flows from them.

At Colonial Baptist Church, we are firmly committed to the core doctrines taught in Scripture and affirmed throughout historic Christianity. We believe in the inspiration and authority of the Bible, the deity and virgin birth of Jesus Christ, His substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, and promised return, as well as salvation by grace through faith alone.

As an independent, self-governing church, we joyfully support missionaries and ministries by choice, recognizing Jesus Christ alone as the head of the Church. You’ll find that Colonial Baptist is distinct from many churches today—we stand firmly on the timeless truths of God’s Word and strive to live out the gospel faithfully and lovingly throughout the Upper Ohio Valley.
